volunteers at the Fall Festival which is after six weeks into the school year.
Yeah so what the law says is they have to they have to do it within six weeks
of beginning their volunteerism. I think we're going to try to stick with the
first six weeks of school because that's when the most people are trying to
volunteer and it's going to be a little bit easier on tracking but our legal
deadline is six weeks from their beginning of volunteering.
And so if somebody, if a teacher circulates a sign-up sheet for volunteers for their Halloween party,
somebody signs up who's never volunteered before, then how does that trigger...
Somebody has to review that and go like, well, this person's not already in the system.
We need to do outreach to them to make sure that they get started on this requirement.
Yeah. We're lucky that that process is already in place because we do ask our parent volunteers
to go through that volunteer training so when the teachers have an event where
they're asking for parent volunteers they're already checking that Google
like the Excel that is connected to that Google Doc to make sure that they've
been cleared for parent training.
Alright so tonight I'm asking for approval of a new job description and
what we want to do is give you a little bit of backstory of how we got to this
particular position. So as you know whenever there's a change in leadership
it's really a best practice for a district to look at all of its staff and
figure out how can we leverage a position to really fill in what is the
most needs for a district. And so when we had first brought forward this
position we had had it as a director of technology and we went through the
process and we interviewed and we found some applicants but they didn't quite
seemed to match exactly what we were looking for. So the decision was made for
us to take a step back and really look at what it is that we feel, who is an
individual, and what would their job description look like that would really
bring our district forward. And so after many meetings and many drafts of it, we
landed on an assistant director of innovation, technology, and communication.
If you remember back, we used to have an assistant director of technology, but
So that was a classified management position.
So the difference between that position and this position
is this will remain a certificated manager that
is an assistant director.
But the focus of this particular position
is not just on the technical aspects of our technology
department.
It really brings in lots of different elements
related to technology and innovation
that we feel like can help propel our district forward.
We also talked a lot about looking
how we can change some of the way that we do communication and how we can bring
in some more proactive communication, some positive messaging, and we really
felt like that did go hand-in-hand with technology and innovation. So tonight
we're bringing forth this job description of a new and approved
Assistant Director of Innovation Technology and Communication.
I just wanted to make sure that the document is out of custody.
It does. If I could speak on the salary scale. For the number of days what I was sharing was not the
certificated 217 days. So this is accurate.
Really appreciate the thoughtfulness and really taking a breath and a beat to
understand what the actual needs are and where the gaps might be and how a role
can really be designed to serve the district and our students. So I really
appreciate what's come together here in trying to match what our actual needs
are right now. You know, education like everything else is evolving at a
breakneck pace and we're not often in a position to keep up with it in a way
that can be reflected in our position. So this is I think this is the timing is
really good. I think I'm always open to re-envisioning the district office and
configuration with new leadership it is a perfect time to look at the existing
positions and what's needed and what can change so yes I would like to make a
motion to approve the new job description for assistant director of
innovation technology and I'll second okay I have a motion and a second you
job description for assistant director innovation technology motion carries
thank you 9.2 resolution 26-27-01 certificate of signatures so tonight we are requesting to update the

warrants on AP warrants and contracts. The certificate is filed with the Contra Costa

change in superintendent and district staff we're requesting this certificate be updated
and it would be for the period of July through December.
